Can you imagine yourself in Paris, France at this moment, walking their narrow streets and the smell of fresh bread at every hour. Maybe even visiting the Eiffel Tower, that is so grand and beautifully intricate that it is difficult to not fall in love with it – especially at night when lights are displayed.

Every now and then, in the middle of the week, I like having a moment of peace and quiet all to myself. I take this time to picture being elsewhere. Sometimes I’m off to a place I’ve been to before and sometimes it’s to a place I’ve only heard of or seen pictures of. This week, I’ve discovered Bern, Switzerland. How lovely would it be to be able to run about on hills that smell of freshly cut grass!

There is something lovely about gray skies. Sunshine is perfect, but I can’t help but crave for the imperfection of a beautiful, rainy morning in Shanghai, China. The way the buildings around you fade and the sound of the rain gently soothes you.

I squint my eyes real hard to see the flickering city lights dancing vividly. As the city goes to sleep, my eyes begin to close, with the Manhattan lights putting on a show for me.

I’m restless tonight. The hands on the clock are far past 12 but I don’t bother checking anymore. Everything in the house stands still in the darkness. I sit and listen. It’s especially quiet tonight. It’s snowing again. The streets are lit up by the brilliant white snow that sparkles in the light of the lampposts. I look towards the sky in search for stars but instead discover they’re hidden behind a layer of milky clouds. I close my eyes and imagine myself sitting by a fire in the Northwest Territories while watching the colours of the Northern Lights sway to the music of the wind. Warmed by the thought, I realize it doesn’t matter where I sleep tonight because I’m already there. Aurora Borealis, you’re amazing.

With the winter chills taking over, the memory of long bike rides and corner store stops come into mind. How nice it would be to ride down the streets of Meguro, Japan with the decadent smell of wood in the air.

I’d like to be whisked away to Foppolo, Italy. Perhaps spend a quiet weekend in this charming village, surrounded by beautiful mountains and warm amber lights.
