At night, the warm glow from Hannah Nunn’s lamp beckons you to sit by the window and sink into deep thought. A break from the traditional candle that still keeps you cozy on cold winter nights. Find out what inspires this artist, from the quaint town of Hebden Bridge, UK, to create such delightful lighting.
WHAT SONG DO YOU LIKE TO WAKE UP TO?
HN: Ohh, if only… I’m always up first in our little flat so I can’t wake anybody up by putting music on! Actually, though, I like the peace and quiet of the morning so that’s OK with me!
YOUR FAVOURITE HIDING PLACE IN THE CITY & WHY?
HN: I live in a small town and it’s pretty hard to hide here but if I lived in London, then it would definitely be the Natural History Museum. When I went there last, I visited the Spirit Collection at the Darwin Centre and I was struck with awe by all the beautiful creatures preserved for years and years in old Victorian jars. I had the place to myself and there was a real stillness there. You can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enter a completely different world. I LOVE IT!
NAME A HOBBY YOU ENJOY, OUTSIDE YOUR CRAFT.
HN: I love music, and getting together with friends and singing songs. My craft is mostly solitary, so it’s nice to get together with other people and create something beautiful (or even raucous) as a group. I get a real buzz from singing harmonies.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?
HN: You know, I always wish I’d kept a list of everything I’ve ever read in my entire life. Wouldn’t that be amazing to look back upon? I might start now! Then I could have glanced down at the list and picked a favourite right now. There is one that I had recently read and loved. It was “If nobody speaks of remarkable things” by Jon McGregor.

WHERE WOULD YOU BURY YOUR TREASURE?
HN: In the woods. Can’t tell you which, it’s a secret.
MOST BELOVED MEMORY OF SNOW?
HN: Walking up Horsehold Road (a very steep winding road in Hebden Bridge) on Christmas night with my then-boyfriend. The air was still, crisp and FULL of sparkling stars. The view across the field and the town was luminous. I had been learning a piece by Yann Tiersen on the piano. I got the sheet music for Christmas, so I had that tune in my head. That piece still brings back the memory.
HOW WOULD YOU DECORATE YOUR IGLOO?
HN: I’d have lots of big, bright, warm coloured cushions scattered all over the floor and fairy lights! It would have to have fairy lights to add a cozy glow!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE SNOWED IN?
HN: I would wish that I had a big open fire and lots of logs so I could snuggle up with my cats and a cup of tea and read a good book.

Palette: Off-White + Blue + Silver
A new year calls for a clean slate. And this is exactly what this week’s palette reflects. Soft, creamy whites are decorated with lovely blues, and grounded with timeless silvers. January is a resting month for most. It’s the lull the proceeds after all the holiday festivities. This is the perfect time to turn on some jazz and sit back with all your favorites. Have a lovely weekend!

Palette: Off-White + Cyan + Browns
Vanilla was never quite my favorite, as it was a tad plain and lacked personality. This week’s photo board was inspired by some delicious vanilla bean ice cream that I had last week. Soft whites, sea blues and spots of a variety of browns were used this week to express the flavor. Vanilla actually has a very soft aroma, and the creaminess of the flavor matches it perfectly. Finding perfection in something simple is part of the fun. Have a wonderful week!

Palette: Cyan + Pastel Green + Cream + Whites
The sweet palette for this week consists of ocean cyans, pastel greens and soft cream and whites. On my best days, I would wake up early in the mornings craving for dessert. Don’t you think that baking seems magical in some ways? The way ingredients are able to mix together to create something beautiful… or if you don’t have the best of luck perhaps a little burnt around the edges. Being able to wear your favorite apron, with your wooden spoon at hand, and creating something tasty is the best feeling ever. Happy baking everyone!

Palette: Violet + Rich Greens + Browns
This week is all about dreaming, coated with subtle hints of violet, rich greens and a variety of browns. We’re all dreamers, and we know that nothing is better than to silently lay in a field of grass dotted with wild flowers. Walking bare feet on lush, green grass while collecting wild flowers under the beaming sun is the greatest escape. Decorate your house with your favorite wild flowers or surprise someone special with a beautiful bouquet! Have a wonderful one!

Palette: A Soft Mix of Cyans + Lush Greens + Ivory + Romantic Pink
This week’s palette is a soft mix of cyans, lush greens, hints of ivory, and a punch of romantic pink. The weather has been so hot and beautiful this week. And with all the summer activities going on during the day, mornings are very important. It’s the little part in our day where we lay on our beds half asleep, slowly taking everything in – the sound of the birds, the smell of breakfast, the fragrance of freshly picked flowers. It’s the little time we have to ourselves, knowing quite well how hectic our days quickly become. Spoil yourself with a peaceful morning!
