With all the holiday festivities and parties going on, we have Elie Wiesel’s A Mad Desire To Dance for this week’s book cover. The book itself isn’t very festive, but the title beaming. A Mad Desire To Dance speaks of a life shaped by the horrors of the twentieth century, and one man’s attempt to reclaim happiness. A heart-stopping black and white image by french photographer Robert Doisneau dances with the story, a perfect book for the new year.

Every other Saturday, when Wendy’s not here, you’ll come to find interesting book covers by a variety of designers. Maybe you’ll end up liking one – enough to make a purchase. Xiaolu Guo’s A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers is about Zhuang, a woman from rural China, who comes to understand love and heartbreak in English. The story, paired with the novel’s delicate illustration by Gabriele Wilson, draws you in to find out what happens to Zhuang.
