I’ve recently been informed of a wonderful event. Remembrance of Patients Past (UTP) is a groundbreaking study by Geoffrey Reaume. To celebrate the re-issue, Goeffrey Reaume will conduct a walking tour of the wall surrounding the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) at 1001 Queen St. W. The walk will then be lead to the Gladstone Hotel where he will carry an on stage conversation.

Workman Arts’ exhibition The Story Behind the Wall, which has been inspired by Reaume’s text, will be featured on stage. A silent auction of bricks painted by local artists will then commence. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Psychiatric Survivors Archives of Toronto (PSAT) for the purpose of purchasing commemorative plaques detailing the history of the 19th century patient built wall and other aspects of unpaid patient labour. Marc Glassman, Executive Director of This is Not a Reading Series will be hosting the event, presented by the University of Toronto Press, Gladstone Hotel, NOW Magazine, Torontoist.com, Take Fie on CIUT, Psychiatric Survivor Archives of Toronto and Workman Arts.

The event will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 8 PM. Doors will be open at 7:30 PM and entrance will be $5.00 or free with a book purchase.

Help support the cause. For more information visit TINAR or Pages Books.

As a part of TPW’s 2010 Summer product line up I’ll be designing TPW’s first wedding set. And if I’m good there may be TWO full wedding sets. From wedding invites, reply cards, thank you cards, menus and table settings… the list can go on. And for some more exciting news, TPW will be doing its first ever Weddings and Parties themed summer posts. For the months of June, July and August TPW will be introducing new designers and artists to help you create that perfect setting. We all need a little inspiration from time to time. Can’t wait for the summer fun to begin!

Valentine’s Day may be over but it’s not the only day you can declare your love to someone special. You can always lock it up and toss the keys away on any given day just like these other couples have in the photo above.

Looking at last year’s TPW shoot I can’t help but miss summer. Even though I’m not a big fan of the heat I am dreaming of waking up to sunshine and hearing the birds whistle outside and for those perfect summer evening sunsets. So I thought that I’d bring a little warmth to your cold winter day because it’s bound to last a while longer.

In the midst of finalizing the images from the shoot and in celebration of the big V day, I would like you to send me an image of yourself or of someone else that represents Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t matter if you’re single or if you’re in a relationship. Send me an image that’s taken by you or by someone you know that displays something sweet. Email me at myoo@thepaperwhale.com

TPW unveils this year’s Valentine’s Day concept. The small collection of cards and special edition Cream Soda POM Candy are a part of this year’s The Nature of Love concept. Tomorrow’s shoot will definitely be fun and after visitng Putti today I can’t wait to share the simple yet beautiful pieces I selected to showcase as a part of the shoot. It’s going to be a long day but I’m sure it will be equally fulfilling to wrap up the Valentine’s Day shoot!
